Indians have a field day at Asian Junior Tennis Championships/cwgPress Operations

Fifth seed Ronit Bisht of India had little trouble in brushing aside the challenge of Jatinder Singh, also of India in straight sets in the boys’ singles first round on Day One of the Asian Junior Tennis Championship on Monday. Fourth seed Sai Karthik Nakireddy also moved into the second round, benefiting from a bye.

Other Indian players to have sailed into the second round include Saurabh Patil, Srikar Allah, Rishabdev Raman, Digvijay Singh Mehta, Sumeet Shinde, Jatin Dahiya, Chinmay Handa,Tarun Nath Surath and Garry Singh Amor.

Earlier, Seventh seed Rishika Sunkara moved ahead with ease into the second round of the girls’ singles event. Other Indians who have entered the second round of the girls’ section are - Nova Patel, Adnya Naik, Samrada Ballu, Anushka Bhargava, Prardhan G, Ashwariya Aggarwal, Abhilasha Ahuja and Sri Vaishnavi Pedde Reddy. Monday evening matches were prolonged till 11.15 pm.

The morning session on Tuesday will begin at 9.00 am with singles matches with the first round of doubles matches to begin as well.
