TREATMENT GUIDELINES

ASTHMA : INHALERS AND BRONCHODILATORS

PERMITTED : Only with advanced medical notification in aerosol form or by inhalation

[ Beta-2 Agonists Salbutamol (Aerotaz, Asthalin) if conc.is less than 1600 microgram/over 24 hours]& Salmetrol by inhalation.

Oral Tab/Syp – Deriphylline, Unicontin, O-D phyllin , Doxolin

PROHIBITED : Asthalin, Bricanyl, Bambudil.
COUGH, COLD, FLU:

PERMITTED : All antibiotics, Corex, Bromhexine, Benadryl, Alex, Corex-DX

PROHIBITED – Pseudoephedrine (Alerid-D, zyncel-D, Cetrizet-D) prohibited if its conc.more than 150 microgram/ml.

DIARRHOEA :

PERMITTED: Imodium, Diarlop, Brakke, Tiniba, Flagyl

PROHIIBITED: Products containing Morphine.

PAIN / INFLAMMATION :

PERMITTED: All non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory like Brufen, Nimulid, Crocin, Voveran, Supanac, Retoz, Aroff, Flexon, Dolonex-DT.

PROHIBITED: Oral Corticosteroids- Medrol, Wyslone, Defcort.

Products containing Morphine, Fortwin, Pethidine.

SORE THROAT

PERMITTED: Soluble Aspirin, Disprin or Paracetamol gargle


VOMITING & ACIDITY

PERMITTED-Domstal, Stemetil, Perinorm, Rantec, Omez, Razo, Happi XT, Pan 40


SKIN CONDITIONS

PERMITTED: Local application creams are allowed e.g. Neosprin, Betadine, Betnovate-N, Flucort-N and do not require any therapeutic use exemption.

CONTRACEPTION
PERMITTED- All oral contraceptives are permitted e.g. Primolut-N, Ovral-L, Ovral, Orgametrine

RECOMMENDED PRECAUTIONS

•Do not take any medication given to you by others (athletes, coach etc.) without checking them first from the WADA list.
• ASTHMATICS- Ensure that your medication is ‘permitted’ and use is notified if necessary.

• Vitamins, herbal and nutritional supplements may contain banned substances not listed on the label. Use of these products is at the athlete’s own risk. (Note:DHEA, Vita Ex-gold are banned).

• Marijuana is banned.

• Alcohol is banned only in a few particular sports during competition e.g. Archery, Karate, Motorcycling, Modern Pentathlon, Bowling (FIQ) Powerboating, Automobile (FIA), Aeronautic.
